VA41600
Arm Cortex-M4 Microcontroller
Your Memory Architecture. No Performance Tradeoffs.
The VA41620 swaps the VA41630's integrated non-volatile memory (NVM) for an external Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) NVM interface, giving system architects the flexibility to use their own radiation-hardened memory while carrying the family's strongest Total Ionizing Dose (TID) protection through the Van Allen belts and beyond.
Specifications
The VA41620 has all of the features of the VA41630 but gives the user the flexibility to use their own external RH NVM without sacrificing performance or feature set.

These metrics ensure the VA4 product family remains reliable in high-radiation, particle-intensive space environments. TID ratings quantify its cumulative radiation tolerance, while SEL immunity measures resilience to single, high-energy particle events. Consistent operation under these conditions is crucial for protecting mission-critical data and maintaining long-term reliability.
Radiation Tolerant (VA2630, VA42620, VA42628, VA42629))
Total Ionizing Dose (TID) > 30 krad(Si)
Operating temperature: -40 to +85°C
Single Event Latch-up (SEL) immunity (SEL) > 40 MeV*cm2/mg (at T=85°C)
Radiation Hardened (VA41630, VA41620, VA41628, VA41629)
Total Ionizing Dose (TID) >300 and >200 krad(Si) with FRAM options
Operating temperature: -55 to +125°C
Single-Event Latch-Up (SEL) immunity to LET > 110 MeV*cm2/mg

Satellite, Aviation, Ground Vehicles, Autonomous Mobility: VORAGO Technologies provides Arm Cortex-M4 family microcontrollers across a range of radiation tolerant by design (RTBD). All components are meticulously engineered to mitigate single event upsets and prevent latch-up, thereby satisfying the most demanding requirements for satellite constellations, avionics (MEA) and autonomous mobility.
With a Total Ionizing Dose (TID) tolerance from either 30 to >300 krad (Si), the rad-tolerant and rad-hardened microcontrollers are suitable for deployment in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO), and beyond.
Exceptional Reliability: Our fast-expanding VA4 family of rad-tolerant microcontrollers are built for environments where performance and uptime are non-negotiable. Error Detection and correction (EDAC) with hardware scrub engine for Soft Error Rate (SER) reduction of < 1E-12 errors/bit-day for the memory increase reliability for the mission critical applications where data integrity is paramount. Hardware scrub also reduces the chances of system crashes due to memory malfunctions, thereby extending the function life of the memory by preventing error accumulation.
Affordability: Built for any orbit, any commercial or government customer, the new rad-tol VA42630 and VA42620 deliver top price/performance and fast scalability at a fraction of the cost of rad-hard MCUs. They require zero redesign for fast deployment - the chips can be dropped into existing architectures, eliminating the time and cost associated with platform redesigns.
Power & Space Efficiency: With a focus on low-power operation, all VA4 MCUs are optimized for energy efficiency, crucial for satellite, on-terrain, and industrial applications where power consumption is often a limiting factor. With built-in memory options, VA4 chips deliver a high-density solution for missions where every cubic centimeter is preciousScalability and Flexibility: VORAGO's VA4 family offers exceptional price/performance and scalability, letting you perfectly match performance features and price to your application's requirements.
